A shock cord is simply a loop made of elastic cord, attached to the corners of a tarp to reduce stress on the tarp’s edges. The shock cord loop is secured to the tarp’s corner guy lines using a Lark’s Head Knot. The installation of the shock cords is demonstrated in the last three product images.
All new Kero tarps come with shock cord loops attached to the ends of the corner guy lines. For other tarps, the shock cord loop can also be attached to the tarp side of the corner guy line.
Why add shock cord loops to the corner guy lines of a tarp?
Another option is to make the shock cord loops yourself using 3 mm shock cord. In that case, you will need at least 2 meters of 3 mm shock cord (you’ll need about 30-40 cm of 3 mm shock cord for each loop).
Please note that the products are handmade, so there may be slight variations in the size of the loops and overall length. However, this does not affect the functionality of the product.
Elastic cord is sold by piece.
